Note from the Artist
Linocut is a printmaking technique in which a sheet of linoleum is used for a relief surface. The design is cut with V-shaped chisels. The linoleum sheet is inked with a roller and then impressed onto paper with a printing press.
This original hand carved, inked and pressed print is one of sixty. The two doves in the foreground and the leaf motif frame the iconic National Trust house “A la Ronde” creating distance and a rural narrative. The use of blue black and warm white is a traditional colour scheme. I used Intaglio ink on Stonehenge 250g/m2 paper, to create a lasting image.
