Linocut is a printmaking technique in which a sheet of linoleum is used for a relief surface. The design is cut with V-shaped chisels. The linoleum sheet is inked with a roller and then impressed onto paper with a printing press.
This original hand carved, inked and pressed print is one of only thirty I will make from this plate. The large badger in the foreground and the small church in the background creates distance and a rural narrative. The use of black and white is a traditional colour scheme and works well with the subject matter.
